Thrill seekers are being invited to take part in a unique charity abseil event which will see them scale one of the most prominent buildings in Liverpool’s Commercial District.
Leading law firm Hill Dickinson are staging the fundraising drive on 16th and 17th March in order to raise money for Hill Dickinson’s nominated charities (whose funds are managed by the Community Foundation for Merseyside) and SPLOSH, the charity founded by the late Paul Rice, former CEO of the Commercial District BID who died after an 18 month battle with blood cancer earlier this year.
It is hoped that around £10,000 will be raised through sponsorship. Those taking part in the 120 foot abseil are asked to raise a minimum of £50 which must be presented by cash or cheque on the day. Hill Dickinson’s flagship Liverpool office is situated in St Paul’s Square (off Old Hall Street).
Andrew Rushworth, HR Director at Hill Dickinson said: “This will be an exhilarating experience and will allow people to see Liverpool from a completely new perspective. We are delighted to be hosting the event which will raise money for extremely worthwhile local charities which need support. “
SPLOSH, Staff, Patients and Loved Ones supporting Haematology was set up by Paul Rice, who lost his life recently following 18 months of cancer treatment. His wish was to raise funds to help people who need the care and support of the dedicated staff who work at the Haematology Department at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
The Community Foundation for Merseyside distributes funds across the region designed to improve the quality of life for people in some of its most disadvantaged areas. The foundation promotes philanthropy, facilitates grants and is committed to implementing positive social change.
The abseil will take place between 9am and 5pm on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 March. Bookings must be made in advance. To register call 0151-600-8288 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Ask anyone who’s been on this event what its like and they’ll answer you with a knowing smile. Seeing some of the Lake District’s most beautiful waterfalls, rivers and pools from the most absurd angles as you scramble your way either up or down a mountain river course is an experience you’ll never forget.
Going along, you’ll have to contend with fast flowing rivers. Going up, you’ll have waterfalls gushing down next to you and white water splashing against your face and under your feet. Going down, you can sit and slide as you’re carried (not too speedily) down the rapids.
Happily, there are different types of levels and water speeds to suit every age and ability. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you can try a few tricks like pool jumping.
Before you are lead by a fully qualified instructor you’ll be kitted out in hard hats, life jackets and wetsuits.
If the buzz of this wasn’t enough, the second stage of the event will take you along a route to experience the beautiful countryside that Lake District has to offer become arriving back in Ambleside for a well-deserved meal and drink.
If you’ve never tried this; you have just got to! The thrills will have you smiling for a long time and fill you full of stories you will want to tell everyone.
All of this for just £85 per person. Places are limited, so if you looking for a bit of fun and adventure this year – DO THIS! The dates of this event is Sunday 29th April 2012
