A fearless team from a leading law firm swopped their suits for boots to tackle a challenging survival weekend to help two local charities.
Staff from Hill Dickinson Solicitors undertook a Special Forces army challenge in the Lake District on the 28th to 30th May to help to raise funds for St Paul’s Eye Appeal and Animals in Need.
The staff braced themselves to join forces with former members of the SAS for a two days and nights challenge in the wilderness. The SAS are renowned for survival skills whether operating in climates from the humid jungles of Borneo to the frozen landscapes of Scandinavia.
During the challenge the team learnt survival techniques, shelter building, navigation, escape and evasion and concealment skills before undertaking a night mission.
St Pauls Eye Hospital was established in 1871 at No. 6 St Paul’s Square, located on the same spot where Hill Dickson’s offices are now. It has grown into an international centre of excellence for the treatment of sight threatening diseases. Animals in Need raise funds to provide a future for abandoned or unwanted animals in the Merseyside region.
The money raised will help fund research into common causes of blindness and help care for animals left at the Kirkby based animal centre.
Heather Sutton, St Paul's Eye Appeal, said "We are truly grateful to the team for the tremendous support. I'm delighted they enjoyed their experience and delighted they have been able to raise so much money."
